THE decision on the plans to build 135 homes on Church Road in Laverstock has been pushed back.

Laverstock and Ford Parish Council says it was been advised by Wiltshire Council Planning that the decision on the development has been delayed until "at least" Monday, June 7.

The council said: "This is to allow time for them to obtain further details from consultees and the applicants to ensure that all the necessary information is available to make a decision on the proposal."

The plans have been submitted by Hallam Land Management Limited and Velcourt Group Limited, which says 81 of the dwellings would be for "market housing", 34 for "Social, Affordable or Intermediate Rent", 10 affordable homes and 10 starter homes.

Widespread opposition

From members of the public to parish councillors and Wiltshire councilllors, the plans have been met with almost unanimous opposition.

Laverstock and Ford Parish Council voted to formally object to the application, and compiled a list of 13 fundamental issues it has with the plans, including Wiltshire Council's "failure to meet its five year land supply target not being used as a justification for the plans".

Ian McLennan, Wiltshire Councillor for Laverstock, said "consternation [at the plans] is very evident", adding that he is "confident that all Laverstock residents will object to this proposal".

David Lovibond of the Milford and Area Preservation Group, said the application is "frankly a most egregious assault on a much cherished landscape".
