FAMILIES enjoyed a fun day out at the Wroughton Carnival.

After taking a year off because of the pandemic, the spectacular village celebration returned with an array of attractions over the weekend.

Restrictions prevented the traditional parade with floats, walking parties and a marching band from going ahead but a funfair, dog show and ferret racing along with live music provided plenty of entertainment for visitors.

Committee member Louise May said: "Wroughton Carnival was a resounding success, with a fantastic array of stalls, entertainment, live music and all the fun of the fair.

"The weather was perfect and the crowds arrived very willing to spend their money on lots of exciting things that we had all missed so much.

"Many of the stalls sold out half way through the afternoon, the food vendors struggled to keep up with demand, and the funfair rides were full all afternoon.

"The fancy dress competition, introduced in the place of a parade, turned into a great success.

"Richard James estate agnets held a raffle with £100 worth of vouchers for shops as a prize.

"Live music provided for free by local bands returned us all to a sense of normality.

"A great day was had by all, even for the committee and volunteers who worked so hard to make the day one to remember."
