MORE than 100 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Swindon.

Including the 136 newly-confirmed today, there have been 711 positive Covid-19 test results recorded around the borough within the last seven days, which is 288 more than the week before. This shows an increase of 68 per cent.

Five more patients with coronavirus symptoms have been admitted to Great Western Hospital (22 in total during the last seven days), though no new deaths related to the disease have been recorded at GWH.

As of July 10, Swindon's infection rate was 250.2 cases per 100,000 population.

Around the UK, there have been 63 new deaths linked to Covid-19 and 48,553 new cases recorded.
