A NEW Lidl is opening at Greenbridge Retail Park next week.

The supermarket will welcome customers on Thursday and will be open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday as well as 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

It will create 30 new jobs for the area and include an in-store bakery, customer toilet with baby changing facilities, and 1,364 square metres of retail space.

Customers are recommended to wear face masks if possible and there will be cleaning stations and hand sanitiser at the shop entrance.

The new store will be providing surplus produce and customer donations to local charities, including the Vulnerable Assistance Network and The Nursery of Narnia.

This is delivered through Lidl’s Feed it Back scheme, which is run in partnership with Neighbourly and connects Lidl stores up and down the country with local charities, foodbanks, community cafes and kitchens, putting quality food surplus to good use every day.

This branch forms part of the company’s ongoing £1.3 billion expansion and regeneration plans across the country for 2021 and 2022.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Glen Stidever said “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Swindon.

"It is fantastic that we are able to continue our investment in Swindon, opening what will be our fourth store in the town, and enabling even more of the local community access to our multi-award winning products.

"We are delighted to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area and look forward to welcoming everyone to our new store.”
