A Royal Wootton Bassett couple have achieved their dream of opening a new store in the town – and say it is the first one in the area dedicated to selling trading card game products like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering.
Watts Cards, owned by Owen and Celine Paris Watts, had its grand opening on Monday. The couple had been operating their card game business online and by attending local car boot sales.
“We wanted to open a store because of how much it (trading card games) blew up.” Celine said.
“We are both collectors, so it is something we are pasionate about.
"Therefore, it just makes sense to up to run a store, doing something we both enjoy.”
Celine added that the opening day went really well
She said: "We had just a welcoming experience! It was actually very heartwarming for us to see the children on the way home from the school run being so excited to finally come in and look around. We can't thank our visitors enough and hope that we have made a few friends and returning customers.”
The Pokémon card game in particular has seen a massive rise in popularity thanks to social media influencers like Logan Paul.
