TRAFFIC queued on the M4 and two lanes have closed following an accident.
Highways England shut part of the motorway westbound between Junctions 17 and 18 at 6.50am today.
One lane reopened to allow the congested queues to pass at around 7.05am.
Motorists encountered elays of around 60 minutes as there was more than five miles of slow-moving traffic near the accident.
All lanes reopened at around 8.30am though the backed-up traffic took a while to ease.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 6.40am this morning (21/07) about a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the M4, between Junctions 17 and 18.
“It involved a car and a lorry, but thankfully nobody was seriously injured.
“Officers remained at the scene until around 7.30am, when the scene was passed to Highways England to manage.”
