Travellers at Highworth Rec after being moved on from town centre
A GROUP of travellers moved on from Wootton Bassett Road last night have gathered in Highworth.
Wiltshire Police were on the scene at around 6.15pm last night (July 20), with the some of the 30 vehicles blocking the road.
Officers ordered them to leave the site and it was clear by 7.20pm.
But the group moved to Highworth Recreation Centre later in the evening and were still there this morning.
A police spokesman said: "We received calls last night at approximately 8.30pm to a group of travellers which had arrived at the Highworth Recreation Centre.
"Our officers have liaised with the landowner and Swindon Borough Council and will be carrying out regular patrols while the group remains."
