A LONDON man has appeared in court charged in connection with County Lines drug dealing in Swindon.

Shamar Pennant, 38, of Greenland Road in Camden, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possession of criminal property.

He was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Swindon Crown Court next month.

Pennant was arrested in the Newbury area on Monday as part of ongoing proactive work by police teams in Swindon, including Operation Fortitude, and officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Operation Orochi which focused on tackling County Lines drug dealing.

County Lines is the term used for the sort of criminal behaviour where drug dealers in major cities establish networks for the supply and sale of drugs to users in towns and rural areas, using other people - usually the young or vulnerable - to carry, store, and sell the drugs.
