Hollywood A-listers Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg are said to have been spotted filming in a disused quarry near Westbury and on Salisbury Plain.

They have reprised their roles in earlier Mission Impossible films for the seventh film in the series which is due for release in May next year.

Brockworth-born Pegg and Cruise were said to be in and around a quarry near the famous Westbury White Horse for the blockbuster.

Security people are guarding the entrance to the White Horse chalk pit off Long River Road near the famous Westbury White Horse.

However, one claimed that the filming was not for Mission Impossible, but an unamed TV production.

But some locals say they have spotted the famous factors in the area, following other scenes filmed at an airfield near Gloucester.

Pegg was apparently seen driving world-famous Tom Cruise along the A360 on Salisbury Plain. The pair were reportedly also spotted in West Lavington.

There appears to be several lorries, vans and a minibus inside the chalk pit and several off-road buggies are reportedly being used to transport the film stars around the quarry.

The Mission Impossible film is the seventh in the series and is the third to be directed by Mr McQuarrie, following Rogue Nation and Fallout.
