THE drizzling rain paused, the clouds parted and beaming sunshine shone down on the County Ground as the funeral procession of Swindon Town's honorary chairman Mike Spearman arrived at the football stadium.
Fans, friends, loved ones and football club staff including owner Clem Morfuni and CEO Rob Angus gathered outside the main reception of the Arkells stand to pay their respects to Mike as the hearse passed by at 2.30pm this afternoon.
The 92-year-old was a lifelong Town fan who held many roles during a 40-year professional association, including director, chairman, and club ambassador before finally taking up the title of honorary president.
He also held the role of trustee and chairman of Swindon Town FC Community Foundation since 1996 and worked closely with the head of the foundation Jon Holloway during that time, who called him "passionate about supporting the local community" and "extremely dedicated".
Mr Holloway presented a wreath which was added to the display of flowers inside the hearse. A Swindon Town shirt lay atop the coffin. Mr Morfuni and Mr Angus then made their way to attend Mike Spearman's funeral after the hearse left.
