UPDATE: The car fire has been put out by a fire crew and all three lanes of the M4 are now fully open.
The fire is believed to have caused delay of roughly 35 minutes.
A car has caught fire on the M4 causing tailbacks between J16 Royal Wotton Bassett and J17 towards Chippenham.
The car is currently on the hardshoulder and smoke can be seen billowing out of it.
Highways England reported that fire crews were on the scene.

Motorists reported delays of around twenty minutes
Traffic was completely stopped before two lanes were opened to allow motorists to continue their jouney.
