THESE photos of RAF Fairford in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s were kindly provided by the Gloucestershire Police Archives.

Besides pictures from the Royal International Air Tattoo, they also include the day Space Shuttle Enterprise landed on a converted 747 in 1983, Concorde landing in 1969 and protests held in March 2003 against air strikes on Iraq which were taking place from the base.

They also show pictures of classic police vehicles and bikes which many readers will remember from the 80s and 90s.

Planes in the pictures include a Lancer bomber, Galaxy, Spitfire, B-52, Lancaster Bomber, Red Arrow and a Stratotanker.
