A wrecked car that had been abandoned on Liden Drive for over a month has finally been removed.

People living in Liden had grown tired of seeing the Black BMW and wondered when it would get removed.

This was amid growing concerns that it was being vandalised the longer it stayed where it was, which neighbours said presented a real health and safety risk to the area.

Some were worried that it would only be a matter of time before someone decided to set the vehicle on fire.

Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Police said they were working together to get the car removed but added that were complications because the car was taxed and insured so didn’t legally count as abandoned.

On July 22, Covingham and Dorcan ward councillor Kevin Parry announced on social media that the owner of the vehicle was arranging for it to be collected.

He reported on Sunday that the eyesore had been removed.
