Grange Park: The owner of 41 Rycote Close, Jalil Ansari, has applied to build an identical house on to the side of his property, creating another two-bedroom end-of-terrace house.

On the garden of the property he would construct a double drive for the new house and a single for the existing property

Moredon: Adrian Cirnu, who owns 60 Moredon Road, has asked for retrospective permission for a large 'barbecue' building, complete with roof and brick chimney, in his back garden. A refusal could lead to the building having to come down.

Mr Cirnu has applied at the same time for permission for a large wooden garden building with four rooms making an office, study, gym and storage space.

Town centre: Pam Webb has applied to be allowed to pitch a mobile coffee and snack unit in the car park next to the Shopmobility centre in College Street.

If permitted, a smoking shelter will be re-positioned to allow the buggy and a table and chairs to be set up.

Ms Webb’s application says she wants to provide a space for Shopmobility clients to meet and chat given the “impossibility” to get two scooters into a high street chain coffee shop, and she adds she will not target passing trade, but will not refuse it.

North Star: Swindon New College will be allowed to construct pens and kennels for animals as part of a new vet training facility at its North Star campus. They will be placed at the north end of the campus.

Wanborough: The Parry family, which runs the Lotmead pick-your-own fruit farm, has withdrawn its application to have a small camper van and caravan holiday site on its land.

The Parrys’ application was to be allowed to have a 30-pitch site and to allow caravans, motorhomes and camper vans to stay for a maximum of two nights at a time during the summer months.

The idea was to diversify the business and to ensure the continued running of the pick your own farm, but concerns over access to the site raised by Wanborough Parish Council and representation about ensuring the public right of way across the land remains open means the family felt getting the application through would take too much time and money, and it has been withdrawn.

A plan by Joe Beeden top build a porch over his front door at his house, 9 Greensand Close in Blunsdon St Andrew, has been refused by planners. They said: “The proposed extension would be to the detriment of neighbour amenity, resulting in a tunnelling effect to the living room window of the adjoining property. It would impinge the 45 degree line restricting light and outlook to this room. Further, the proposed porch would sit forward of the established building line of the terrace and would appear out of proportion with the dwelling and neighbouring properties.”
