Locals have been thanked for supporting the funding of the new Radiotherapy Centre.

The Great Western Hospital’s charity Brighter Futures helped raise £2.9m since they launched their campaign in 2015, reaching their target in 2018.

Adver readers contributed to this success by raising thousands of pounds. The Swindon Advertiser promoted the campaign on various occasions to encourage people to donate.

And it was a £175,000 pledge from Swindon and Wiltshire Rotary clubs that took the appeal to its target.

Fundraising and volunteering team manager at Brighter Futures Lisa Utting, said: “It really does feel amazing to have been part of the Radiotherapy fundraising appeal from the start of this journey in May 2015 and to see the roof be installed is just fantastic, it makes me feel so proud of what we have achieved as a team.

“This means so much to me personally, to my family, and all the local people I have met along the way, who have tirelessly helped bring radiotherapy services to Swindon. We are so grateful to all of our supporters; we owe a massive thank you to every single one of them.”

Both Lisa and GWH's chief executive Kevin McNamara have thanked Adver readers for their efforts.
