A DRUNK motorist who was caught behind the wheel while more than double the drink-drive limit has been arrested.

Police in Royal Wootton Bassett have arrested five people for drink or drug driving since the start of the month.

The latest arrest happened after a member of the public alerted officers to a vehicle being driven by a drunk man.

Despite an extensive search, the team couldn’t locate the vehicle.

Luckily, one of the roads policing officers then spotted the car on the M4.

The cop stopped the vehicle and the driver provided a positive sample of breath which was more than double the legal limit.

The 38 year old male from Oxfordshire was arrested for this but the vehicle had been reported stolen, so the suspect was arrested for that too.

A police spokesman said: "This is the fifth person arrested since the beginning of September in our area for drink/drug driving.

"If you suspect someone of drink or drug driving and it is ongoing call 999, but only if it is safe to do so alternatively use the non emergency 101 number."
