Tesco has donated bulbs to Friends of Shaftesbury Lake for use during their upcoming planting event in October.
The community effort to brighten up the area around Shaftesbury Lake as been bolstered by the helping hand from the supermarket giant, and other kind donations from Swindon people. The planting event will be held on October 2.
Anyone who wants to help, regardless of experience, is encouraged to meet at the picnic bench on the Eldene side of Shaftesbury Lake at 10.30am and if possible asked to bring gloves and a trowel along.
Pam Jones, who is responsible for many of the community efforts around the lake, thanked Tesco for its donation.
“A big thank you to Michelle, Tesco’s Community Champion, for donating these bulbs to Friends of Shaftesbury Lake for the planting event on Saturday, October 2 at 10.30am. If you’re free, please do come along to join the group to plant these, along with many other bulbs. Please feel free to bring along any bulbs that you would like to plant.”
A group of volunteers recently raked the meadow in preparation for wild flower planting.
