Robbie Williams is selling his period house at the edge of Compton Bassett for £6.75m... £1.35m less than he bought it for.

Compton Bassett House was where he and his actress wife Ayda ‘truly fell in love’, the Angels singer reflected.

Robbie found fame in the pop group Take That but is now a successful solo artist and is worth £195 million according to The Sunday Times Rich List.

The couple added the estate to their portfolio of properties in 2008. They will still have their Holland Park house in London, their Beverley Hills home and their Switzerland lodge.

The seven-bedroom property, originally built in the 17th century, boasts an indoor pool, a gym, a tennis court, a football pitch, paddocks, a hot tub, a steam room and a sauna.

In addition to the master suite and two children's bedroom suites, four additional bedrooms each have their own sitting room.

In a statement through listing agency Knight Franks, Williams said: “Compton Bassett House has been the perfect escape for our family.

“It is where Ayda and I truly fell in love, set roots as a couple, and dreamed of our future family.

Since then, we have welcomed four beautiful children into the gracious rooms at Compton Bassett House, where we have shared much laughter and joy.

“The gardens and trees have enchanted us with their magic, and on rainy days (of which there are many in England), we have played and splashed around the indoor pool, much to our delight.

“Compton Bassett House is most definitely a family-friendly house that deserves to have much more laughter and joy within its beautiful walls.

“We hope the incoming purchaser will enjoy just as much as we have.”

The property is listed for sale with Knight Frank for a guide price of £6.75m. For further details click here.
