A FURTHER 174 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Swindon within 24 hours.

There have been 887 positive Covid-19 test results around the borough in the last week, which is 517 more than the week before - a rise of 139.7 per cent.

As of September 20, Swindon's infection rate stood at 304.6 cases per 100,000 population.

One new Covid-19 patient death was recorded at Great Western Hospital - there have been five in the last week, which is two more than in the week before.

On Friday, one person in Swindon received their first Covid-19 jab and 23 others received their second. So far, 84.5 per cent of the over-16 population in the borough have had one dose and 78.6 per cent have had both doses.

Around the UK, there were 31,478 new coronavirus cases recorded and 122 new deaths of people who had tested positive for the disease.
