PART of a road near the Moonrakers junction will be closed while footpath work is carried out.

The southbound side of Cricklade Road between the revamped junction and Headlands Grove will be shut between 8pm on October 13 and 6am on October 14.

Northbound traffic will not be affected by the work from contractor Alun Griffiths Ltd.

A diversion route will be clearly signposted for all other motorists.

An additional night-time closure will be needed on either October 20 or 21 to complete these footpath works. An exact date and time has yet to be determined.

Swindon Borough Council will share further details about this second closure closer to the time.

A spokesman said: "We hope that by completing this work through the night, disruption to road users and the local shops will be minimal.

"Thank you to local residents and motorists for their ongoing patience throughout this scheme."
