PRIME minister Boris Johnson priased plans to produce the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine in Swindon.
The doses will be made at the Thermo Fisher Scientific site and production is expected to start in 2022, as the Adver reported on Tuesday.
The firm already makes the vaccine at its facility in Monza, Italy.
Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, Mr Johnson said the move would "make the country an even more attractive destination" for "foreign direct investment".
South Swindon MP Robert Buckland said: "Great news that following a landmark deal with Pfizer, the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine will be produced and bottled here in Swindon, securing £70 million worth of investment and 200 additional jobs for our town."
