A LONG-RUNNING musical club that was forced into a hiatus by the pandemic has announced its return.
Swindon Folk Club, which celebrated its 60th birthday in January 2020, has been taken on by a new team of folk musicians.
“One of the things that we’ve heard from so many singers and musicians throughout the pandemic has been how much they’ve missed making music together,” explained Chantelle Smith, one of the team who is taking on the running of the club.
“It will be great to be able to welcome people back to the club to share something that brings so much joy.
“Of course, we will be running the club according to the government’s guidelines to make sure everyone feels as safe as possible.”
“The club will be back running on a monthly basis and the first evening on October 15 will be a celebration of getting back together again. Several acts from the local area have been invited to perform to get the ball rolling.”
This will be the first in a calendar of monthly club nights.
The reopening is tomorrow from 8pm at the Swindon RAFA Club on Belle Vue Road in Old Town. Entry costs £3 per person.
