Three groups supporting young people in Swindon are in with a chance of winning up to £100,000 in a housebuilding company’s charity competition.

Swindon Music Trust, Swindon ASC and Swindon Advocacy Movement have been selected as part of Persimmon Homes Wessex’s Building Futures scheme for the work they do with under-18s.

There are three categories – grassroots sports, health organisations and arts and education projects with a winner from each being chosen.

A public online vote of all 96 finalists, running from October to November, will determine the winners who will be crowned at an event later this year.

First runners-up will win £50,000 and second runners up will get £20,000 with the remaining projects each getting £5,000.

Online voting is open and and runs until midnight on November 19. For more information visit www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures/

Julian Roper, managing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “Building Futures is all about inspiring the younger generation in our local communities and giving the groups they’re associated with as much support as possible.

“This year has been another great success and the response we get from such worthy causes never fails to amaze me. We’re extremely proud to have given away over £128,000 already but that it just the start.

“We have three outstanding finalists representing the Wiltshire region and we’d like to take this opportunity to wish them all the very best of luck. It would be great to see one of them win the top prize so I would urge people to get voting when it opens next week.”

Swindon Music Trust believes passionately that all children should have access to quality affordable instrumental tuition whether that be online, in school or at home. Many of the children it supports have special educational needs, are from low-income families or are children in care.

Swindon ASC provides a safe and enjoyable environment where all swimmers can achieve their full potential. Whether it’s someone looking to improve their technique or to compete in a county gala, they’ll be in safe and experienced hands.

Swindon Advocacy Movement works with children who are experiencing mental ill health and offer a community independence project for young people with a disability or special educational needs.
