Actors and key grips, gaffers and best boys could be sleeping in luxury suites or dormitory-style rooms on site if a local film studio’s plans are approved.

Tom Ward runs Sandstorm Films, which has its soundstage at the Old Dairy in Badbury Lane in the village just north of Chiseldon and south of the M4.

He wants permission to put up three barn-like structures as accommodation for up to 42 cast and crew members of the films that are made at the studio.

His application says: “Our new film studio and members’ club for creatives has received an incredible following, bringing some of the biggest names in TV and film out of London, Bristol, Manchester and Cardiff to Swindon. We still have one hurdle to jump, the one issue that every visitor to our facilities has - the accommodation in Swindon is substandard and ruins the experience.”

The barns would be arranged in a T-shape, with one having two storeys. There would be a mixture of larger suites and smaller single rooms.
