THE supply of water to Swindon homes should return to normal soon now that Thames Water have fixed a burst water main in Wichelstowe.

An eight-tonne vehicle parked on East Wichel Way while Thames Water vans stopped down the side-street of Fernacre Road.

A spokesman said: "Water pressures are improving across the area following the earlier burst pipe, and you should see your water returning to normal in the next hour (by 1pm).

"If you need supplies in the meantime, we’ve opened a drive-through bottled water station at the Wyvern Theatre. Drop by and say hello to our team in the short stay car park by Rainbow Walk – the what3words location is crisis.loves.shares

"We’ll be following the most up to date advice about social distancing. If you’re coming by car, we’ll load water into your vehicle, so please don’t get out or try to help – we’ve got it covered.

"The water is for essential use, like drinking, cooking and hand washing. Please be considerate and don’t take more than you need.

"If you have a neighbour who’s unable to get to a water station, please let us know and we’ll do our best to make sure our limited supplies are fairly handed out.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused."
