A PRIVATE hospital near Swindon is getting a £1 million upgrade to its facilities.

Circle Health Group bought The Ridgeway in January 2020 and is now investing a total of £100 million in its UK facilities throughout this year.

The Wroughton hospital is receiving a seven-figure sum in response to an increase in demand for medical services in the region as enquiries for treatment have reached an all-time-high.

Work began in August and the first phase featured a complete upgrade of the endoscopy suite which is now complete.

The entire department has been transformed to create what hospital bosses describe as a 'calm, modern and welcoming environment'.

The endoscopy procedure room has been redesigned and fully refurbished. The individual patient rooms have been decorated to include new ensuite bathrooms with a walk-in shower.

Anwar Owais is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon practicing at the hospital.

He said: “I am delighted that our endoscopy department at the hospital has been upgraded.

“This recognises our commitment to excellence in patient care, starting from the moment they step into the hospital and continues until they leave.

“We always aim to provide patients with the highest standards of care comparable with the best endoscopy suites in the world.”

Along with this suite upgrade, the hospital is investing in a new suite for patients having day case surgery, such as cataract and hernia operations.

This is due to be completed early in the new year.

Hospital executive director Kate Liddington said: “The investment programme taking place is a very exciting development for the hospital and patients in the Swindon area.

“All our staff have worked extremely hard to deliver these redevelopment projects. The investment comes at a crucial time with hospital services experiencing an increased demand.

“The renovations mean that we can provide patients with more modern facilities in which to have their surgery and endoscopy.”
