An eight-year-old girl who volunteers at the Oak & Furrows wildlife rescue centre walked the entire length of the Ridgeway to raise money for vital service.
Brea Janisch-Howe, who likes to be called Bee, started the challenge of walking the 86-mile trail in March and after doing it in stages, finished the final stage on November 9.
Bee goes to the Oak & Furrows centre near Cricklade every Sunday to help with her mother, 32-year-old Jools, and loves wildlife so she wanted to do something to help.
“We ended up starting the walk and because it was quite a lot of work we decided to choose a charity and picked Oak & Furrows,” said Bee, whose favourite wild animals are pigeons.
“It’s quite nice when you get to see a fox or a badger there,” she added, speaking about her volunteering work.
Bee’s efforts raised £1,101 for the centre and her mum was extremely proud of her.
“It’s been very good. She’s worked really hard to do it,” said Jools.
“Wildlife’s amazing, that’s why we love volunteering at Oak & Furrows.”
Marketing and fundraising manager Lizzie Scott said: “We are so incredibly grateful to both Jools and Bee for raising this amount on her sponsored walk for the charity.
“We rely on donations so if you’d like to help please contact Fundraising@rspcaoandf.org.uk to find out more.”
