The family of a man who died in a road traffic collision near Marlborough have given a moving tribute to him.

Three cars crashed on the A346 in Burbage just after 6.15am on Wednesday. James Dixey was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

In a statement, the family said: "James Dixey, lovingly known to all as Jim, was a devoted family man - described by his wife Kay as her hero, soulmate and best friend.

"Jim would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat and was a real family-orientated man.

"He loved watching the rugby, fishing with his grandchildren and playing snooker with his brother. He will be sorely missed by his large family."

A police spokesman added: "Our thoughts are with Mr Dixey’s family and friends and we ask that their privacy is respected. We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact us.

"If you can help, call 101 and quote log 31 of December 1."
