Wiltshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith has welcomed the sentencing of a Swindon man to eight years following a investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.

She said: “This case demonstrates our commitment to working closely with the National Counter Terrorism Policing Network to jointly ensure the safety of our communities.

“Ben Raymond has been convicted of a number of serious offences which will undoubtedly cause significant concern to the Swindon community.

"I hope, however, that you can take reassurance in the fact that we, along with partners, acted swiftly and robustly to ensure Raymond was detained.

“Everyone has a part to play in stopping these types of criminal activities and the first step is always to report your concerns to the police.
