THE M4 was shut near Swindon after a roadsweeper HGV overturned.
The male driver was injured in the incident at 9am and police closed a section of the westbound motorway between junctions 13 and 14 for three hours so they could investigate.
The road is now open, but two lanes are still closed and traffic is queuing for three miles due to recovery work on the roadsweeper.
A diversion is in place with motorists advised to follow the Hollow square symbol via the A34, A4 and A338 through Newbury and Hungerford to re-join the M4 at junction 14.
Thames Valley Roads Policing announced the closure at roughly 11.30am following the crash, which involved just the one vehicle.

We are at the scene of a collision on the M4 involving one vehicle, in which a man has been injured.
As a result of this, the road has been closed westbound between J13 and J14.
We expect the road to be closed for the next few hours and will update when we can. pic.twitter.com/429EzdolSC
Highways England's traffic alerts indicate the motorway is expected to be back normal between 3.45pm and 4pm.
