SIX cars were involved in a crash on the M4 between junction 18 and 17.

Police were called to the incident at 7.45pm on Monday along with the fire and ambulance services.

One casualty had a suspected fracture to their leg and others sustained minor injuries.

The eastbound carriageway from junction 18 remained closed for some time until roughly 11.30pm while emergency services dealt with the situation, with blocked traffic cleared through the hard shoulder.

A police spokesman said: "Thankfully, although a number of people required hospital treatment, nobody suffered injuries deemed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

"The eastbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. We are now carrying out an investigation into the circumstances of the collision."

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage from this section of road around the time of the incident. Call 101 and quote log 278 of December 6 if you can help.
