Police and the fire service are advising residents to shut their windows and doors after a blaze broke out on Ferndale Road.
The fire in Edwards Yard involves a steel framed outbuilding with piles of wood and is reportedly causing a large amount of smoke.
There are no reported casualties and police have urged people to stay away from the area.
Fire crews from Swindon, Westlea and Stratton are attending the incident after the blaze was reported at 11.33am this morning.

The fire has been extinguished but police are advising nearby residents to keep their windows closed until the smoke has gone.
