Camera club member Jan Jelley was delighted when she took a walk in Stanton Park and discovered a fallen tree being transformed by a wood carver into an impressive sculpture.
She had a soft spot for it after trying to save it from being ravaged by fire several years ago.
She said: "I found this lovely tree on fire from the inside of the trunk, and despite my efforts to put it out,it still raged pretty fiercely.
"So I alerted the wardens of Stanton park park who were able to eventually extinguish the flames and concrete the hole in the tree.
"The tree survived for a number of years before being brought down by wind."
She added: "It was nice to see that the timber was made to good use by the lovely carvings made from its trunk."
