Amazon have rewarded one of their Swindon employees for his outstanding efforts in supporting the community in the first few months the company has been based in the town.

Delivery station worker Tyler Cahill, 22, also looked after the sites local community support programme that provides financial support and product donations to the area.

His work with that has led to him getting nominated for an Amazon Star award.

The Amazon Star programme, now in its second year, is a UK-wide Amazon competition seeking to recognise and reward company employees for the positive influence they have on the place that they live.

Tyler was nominated by his colleagues for establishing a successful community support programme in Swindon.

Community campaigns organised by Tyler include a volunteering partnership with the Swindon Food Collective food bank, which also sees the delivery station team make their own donations to help the charity.

Tyler has also recently worked alongside Swindon Borough Council to donate items to support young people living the care system.

Tyler is now in with a chance of winning one of three Dream Boxes – the top prize awarded as part of the programme.

A Dream Box is a special delivery, worth £2,000, containing a top prize to honour Amazon’s community heroes.

Tyler will find out if he has won a Dream Box in the coming weeks.

The young worker said: “I feel very fortunate to work at Amazon as it’s a company that offers me so much, but also plays such a huge role in our local community.

"Having the opportunity to support community organisations as part of my role here is amazing and I’ve really enjoyed working with different charities to see how we can support their efforts.

“This is just the beginning for our community support programme. We’ve already got big plans to support more local organisations next year and I can’t wait to get going!”

Amazon Swindon delivery station manager, Puranjay Das, added: “Tyler is a much loved and highly valued member of our  eam and we’re so pleased he has been nominated for an Amazon Star award.”
