MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion who spent their spare time fundraising for the Poppy Appeal thanked a Swindon supermarket.

Three members of the Royal British Legion Riders' Wiltshire branch visited the Waitrose in Wichelstowe to present the staff with a Certificate Of Appreciation.

The kind gesture recognised the retailer's help and assistance in raising a grand total of £11,308.33 during the Poppy Appeal in November.

The money came from generous customers who bought poppies and other commemorative gifts or dropped off donations while they popped in to do some shopping.

The Wiltshire RBL Riders branch members raised a whopping £62,619 overall during the 2021 appeal.

Rex Francis and Ray and Erica Mizen presented the certificate last week and said a big thank-you to the store's staff and customers for their generosity.

Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the Royal British Legion.

Its Poppy Appeal supports thousands of serving personnel, military veterans, and their families.
