BLUNSDON: Developers want to construct temporary access off the B4019 until March 2024, to enable construction access for Thames Water’s trunk main improvements between Blunsdon Reservoir and Faringdon Pumping Station.

The planning statement states: “The pipeline will primarily cross through open countryside and agricultural land.

“Key road crossings are the B4019, A417 and A361 and will be crossed via trenchless methodology to reduce the impact on road traffic and environment.

“A temporary access off the B4019 is required to service the construction activities in this area of the pipeline works, predominately works south of the B4019 and the western trenchless crossing of the B4019 and it is this temporary highway access that is the subject of this planning application.”

Central South: Permission is being sought to erect two digital 75-inch LCD display screen, one on each side of the Street Hub unit planned for Commercial Road, Swindon.

If the plans are approved, the existing BT phone box will be removed and a replacement “BT Street Hub” will be installed, with associated display of advertisement to both sides of the unit.

Street Hubs will provide free calls, a dedicated 999 button, and free public wifi.

There will also be built-in USB ports for “free rapid device charging”, and touch screen tablets offering “real-time information sharing”.

The screens will offer airtime for local businesses and the borough council.

CENTRAL SOUTH: As reported by the Adver on January 14, one of Swindon’s most iconic landmarks is set for a long-overdue facelift as part of a £500,000 council scheme.

Swindon Borough Council has unveiled plans to restore the Coate Water diving board as part of its transformation of the popular outdoor space.

This includes a half-a-million-pound investment into building a new inclusive children’s play park closer to the park’s entrance.

There are also plans to create new cafe facilities.

Central North: Mr Dogra, of Cricklade Road, Swindon, is seeking permission to erect three houses and a detached garage, as well as to make alterations to an existing property.

It is proposed to retain the existing dwelling at 409-411 Cricklade Road to the front of the site and create a new detached garage at the rear.

The proposals are then for the construction of three two-bedroom homes, with parking and gardens.

The application site comprises the existing dwelling with detached garage being replaced at the rear of the site.

The site is located to the west of Cricklade Road with a two storey detached dwelling south of a cul de sac of Menham Close.

St Andrews: Planners want to put up a storage and distribution centre, with ancillary offices and welfare facilities, service yard, parking areas, landscaping and other associated works without compliance with condition 3 (Highway Infrastructure Improvements) from previous permission.

The condition states that the development shall not be brought into use until infrastructure improvements are made to the A419 northbound offslip, or an alternative solution agreed in writing by the Local Planning Authority has been completed and is open to traffic.

This is to mitigate against the impact of development traffic upon the strategic road network and ensure the safe and free flow operation of the A419 trunk road.

The applications covering letter adds: “For the above mentioned reasons we would formally request Condition 3 is struck from our client’s planning permission, as it is hampering our client’s ability to fund their development.”
