WORK has begun on 50 more homes at the Badbury Park development.

Redrow Thames Valley announced it has broken ground on land adjacent to the hundreds of homes it has already built on the east side of Swindon.

The latest expansion of 50 new homes also includes two new showhomes, which are due to open from August.

Project site manager Lee Reeves, assistant site manager Steve Wilkins and site operative at Paul Emblen marked the start of work on site with a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the developer's fourth development in the region.

Sales director for Redrow Thames Valley Sarah Boyce said: “We’re excited that work has begun on the extension of our already popular development at Badbury Park.

“After receiving such a positive reception to our homes from Swindon househunters, we wanted to continue to cater for the significant demand for high-quality family homes in this sought-after location, which is just a stone’s throw away from Swindon town centre.

“With interest already high, and two new showhomes on the way, we’re encouraging interested parties to register their interest to ensure they are the first to hear when properties are released for sale.”

In December last year, Redrow Homes supplied Badbury Park Primary School with handmade recycled playground equipment.

This included additional outdoor seating for the school, as well as a kitchen hut for the children to learn about food and hygiene.

School head Louise Dance said of the gift: “We are very grateful to Redrow Thames Valley for this generous donation. The new outdoor equipment has enriched our curriculum by allowing us to plan outdoor activities during lesson time which create memorable moments in the children’s day.”

The developer also ran a competition for local children to design a futuristic garden with the winner getting a personalised planter and gardening kit while their school will get £200 in gardening vouchers to create a greener playground.

The winning design might also be featured in private gardens or shared outdoor space at Redrow’s future developments.

Redrow has also committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest and all of its houses are supplied with green-certificated electricity. The company says it has acted to reduce the use of diesel fuel on-sites.
