A TEEN has been jailed after he repeatedly hit a woman and chased her with a stick in a park.

Connor Justin Stevenson, who was 17 at the time of the offence, beat the woman repeatedly and chased her with a stick through Mannington Recreation Ground, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard.

The court was told how an altercation arose on May 29, 2021, because the woman had her dog off the lead.

Sentencing Stevenson, now 18, for assault, chair of the bench Alison Auvray said: “This was a really, really nasty attack.

“She had a dog off the lead, but you had no right to beat them repeatedly, and then chase after them with a stick.

“We have allowed for the fact you were a juvenile at the time of the offence.”

Stevenson, who gave his address in court lists as HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire, was jailed for eight weeks.

He was no asked to pay court costs or the usually-mandatory victim surcharge, as magistrates decided instead to ask him to pay £150 in compensation to the victim.

“What I don’t want is a victim of that kind of assault thinking that we don’t care,” she added.
