Swindon residents are breathing a huge sigh of relief following weeks of disruption.

The disruption was following four water mains that broke causing chaos for motorists.

On January 15, the first incident occurred when a water main broke on Thames Road.

Then on January 25, a bust water main broke on Moredon Road causing water to shoot-up into the air.

On the same day, another incident occurred when engineers were called to deal with a burst water main on the junction of Thames Avenue and Blunsdon Road.

Just before 4pm on the same day, the town council warned drivers that yet another mains had burst, this time on the busy Mead Way which was also seeing work undertaken.

Now Swindon Borough Council has issued an update on the situation which can be seen below.

  • Moredon Road is fixed and reopened
  • Thames Avenue – fixed and road open.
  • Mead Way – fixed and road open
  • Belle Vue Road – fixed and road open.

Blunsdon Road is fixed, however the council says it is waiting to reinstate the dug up surface under temporary traffic signal control.
