A DRINK driver crashed after being more than three times the legal limit.

Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit took the motorist into custody last night after an accident on Thamesdown Drive.

The driver reportedly lost control of their vehicle. When breathalysed by officers, the driver had 121 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. - the legal limit is 35.

A Wiltshire Specialist Operations spokesman posted a photo of the crash on Twitter and added: "Thankfully no other vehicles were involved."

The route has seen a number of crashes in recent months.

Two people were involved in a collision by Tadpole Brook on March 29, with the route closed for some time due to the debris.

And there was another crash a few days later after a man died suffering a cardiac arrest at the wheel of his car.

Emergency services were called to the junction with Elstree Way, at around 8.50am on April 2, where a red Honda Jazz was involved in a minor crash.

Despite the best efforts of medics, including a critical care team from Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the man – aged in his 80s – was pronounced dead at the scene.
