A public consultation for the installation of double-yellow lines on Wanborough High Street is due to end soon.
Swindon Borough Council wants to install a no waiting at any time restriction across the length of the village's main road and has published plans of exactly where they'll be placed.
The council states: "The scheme aims to reduce speeds and make the route less desirable for inappropriate through traffic with the use of traditional engineering solutions and psychological traffic calming.
The council is now asking for objections or messages of support for members of the public, who have up until May 20 to share their opinions.
But those who might be struggling to imagine what the new lines will look like in real life need not worry, as Highways officers accidentally installed a portion of the planned lines a number of weeks ago before the promised consultation had taken place.
Ridgeway ward councillor Gary Sumner said this happened because of a "breakdown of communication."
"What has been put down will be covered by a temporary traffic regulation order," he said.
"Rather than remove them they will be left and if they need to be removed after the consultation then they will be. They will not be enforced before the consultation has completed."
