The Devizes Food and Drink Festival team is on a mission to come up with at least 70 different fillings for sandwiches to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The festival is running a short social media competition via its Facebook and Instagram pages, starting on 7 May, to come up with the ideas for the sandwiches which could be used in sandwiches for the teas, picnics and street parties that are being held to celebrate.

The DFDF has also teamed up with Jack Spratt Sandwich Bar, purveyors of fantastic sandwiches, pies, quiches, and sausage rolls to the lunchtime hungry of Devizes, to find the nicest and most original sandwich filling suggestions.

The winning filling will be sold by Jack Spratt from its Little Brittox shop for at least the week following the Jubilee weekend – and if it’s a success they’ll keep it on the menu.

Jenny Groom, deputy chair of the festival said: “This is just a bit of fun to add to the Jubilee festivities in Devizes. We thought we’d harvest the creative food ideas of our supporters and see what wild and wacky things people like to eat.

“I wonder if we’ll get 70 ideas – one for each year of the Queen’s reign?”
