A WILTSHIRE husband and wife team who grow some of the country’s loveliest foxgloves have won a gold medal at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Terry and Mary Baker, of The Botannic Nursery and Gardens, at Atworth, were awarded the gold medal for their floral display.

This year, they took gold for early flowering and foliage species from the national Foxglove collection with intersectional peonies.

Last September, they won a silver gilt award after showing Salvias in the annual show which came back to Chelsea after a one-year break because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mrs Baker said: “Winning medals is not done by just one person and we are grateful for all the team who help us.”

"We've been exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for more than 30 years and our display is in the Grand Pavilion.”

The Botanic Nursery near Melksham is the home of the national collection of Digitalis (foxgloves), as well as gardens, plant shop and a new garden school.

The show is being held from September 24-28 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London where it has been held for every year of its 108-year history since 1913, apart from gaps during the two World Wars and in 2020.
