A group of residents campaigned in the town centre to encourage others to help protect the NHS from private interests.
The protest on Saturday was part of the 'We Own It' national day of action and aimed to get people to email their local Care Commissioning Groups with three demands to keep private companies away from the health service.
Campaigner Kate Linnegar said things went well, with the group talking to many concerned passers-by
"Residents may recall we kicked the private company IMH out of Swindon after it took over and ruined five GP surgeries," Ms Linnegar said.

"We need to let them know that we, like 76 per cent of the population, don't want private companies in our NHS. They made £831 million profit in six years that should have been ploughed into our NHS, not extracted for profits."
Last year Ms Linnegar was part of a group campaigning against Virgin Health Care's involvement in care in the South West.
