TWO good causes were the winners as NHS staff and firefighters from the county clashed in a football match that raised £1,300 for charity.
Teams from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue and NHS staff from Great Western Hospital met at Swindon Town FC's Foundation Park training ground for the sporting contest.
The match, which was free for spectaors to attend, was put on to help raise money for The Firefighters Charity and Prospect Hospice, with all money raised split between the two.
To help support the worthy causes the town's football club donated the venue to the group for the event as well as a kit for both sides to wear
Co-organiser Ross Thorndyke, who put on the event with fireman Jonathon Brock-Monu, was pleased with how the day went and revealed that over £1,300 had been raised through the GoFundMe, donated match fees and donations and a charity raffle.
He said: "After the challenges of the Covid pandemic, we wanted to give back to the community whilst having some fun.
"It was a great day all around. The match itself ended 6-2 to the firefighters."
