A FORMER nightclub boss has been given a three-figure fine after he was caught speeding on the M4.

Jason Anthony Ranford, who used to run the Brunel Rooms in Swindon, is currently serving a two-year jail term after assaulting his wife earlier this year.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on June 2 and was sent straight to jail by Judge Keith Cutler CBE.

Last week, he was fined at Bath Magistrates’ Court for speeding on the M4.

In a behind closed doors hearing via the single justice procedure on June 16, which meant the 35-year-old was not required to attend, Ranford was found guilty of travelling at 85 miles per hour on the M4 in a 2005-plate vehicle.

It occurred on the eastbound carriageway between Junctions 20 (M5) and 19 (M32) on November 16, 2021.

Ranford, of Hinton Parva, was fined £220 and ordered to pay court costs of £90.

He was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and given three points on his licence.

The £344 balance must be paid by August 4, court records show.

Earlier this year, he was again jailed, this time for 38 weeks, after he attacked a man at a Christmas party.

Recorder David Chidgey labelled him “a risk to the public, especially when in drink” on that occasion.
