In true British fashion, the glorious sunshine isn't set to last for long with the Met Office warning that thunderstorms and "torrential downpours" are coming.

To make matters worse the inclement weather, arriving as soon as tomorrow (Thursday, June 23) is expected to cause flooding and disruption across Wiltshire.

The yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for the whole of the county and parts of the South West will be in place between 10am and 11.59pm on Thursday.

Between 40mm and 60mm of rain is expected in an hour with thunderstorms breaking out in some areas, particularly during the afternoon and early evening.

"Thunderstorms and torrential downpours may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding," a Met Office spokesperson said.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

"There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."

The weather organisation further warned that driving conditions could become difficult and that flooding or lightning strikes could cause delays and cancellations to train and bus services.

Power cuts could also occur.
