A Swindon man seen swigging from a bottle of wine at a retail park and then driving home has been disqualified.
Martin White, 57, of Sheerwold Close, appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court on June 21 and pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police received a call at 9.20pm on May 6 reporting that a man had been seen drinking from a wine bottle in Greenbridge Retail Park before driving off in a Seat Leon.
Details of the vehicle were given to officers who went to White's address in Stratton St Margaret where the vehicle was parked on the driveway.
After a breath test, he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and later charged.
On Tuesday, White was given a 12-month driving disqualification, a £576 fine, and ordered to pay a victim services surcharge of £58 and Crown Prosecution Service Costs of £85.
