WORKING on the gardens at the Old Mill, Reybridge is a labour of love for owners Trudy and Phil Clayton.

The building near Lacock, which dates back to Doomsday, is surrounded by the River Avon. In the gardens, which are visited regularly by swans, ducks and kingfishers as well as bees and butterflies, there are fruit trees, raised beds full of flowers and an old building housing the turbines that provide electricity.

An Italian-style courtyard features olive trees and lavender and the meadow contains an area left to grow wild.

It is open on July 15 from 10am to 7pm. Admission is £5 for adults. and refreshments are serves in the barn. Visit ngs.org.uk for details.
