A new Swindon-based podcast hosted by two women will talk about the importance of breast care - and specifically destigmatisation within South Asian culture.

Swindon-based podcast Changing Suits, hosted by friends Bal and Taj, is all about the destigmatisation of our bodies, with a focus on the stigma of this in South Asian cultures.

In the first episode, Bal and Taj will talk to the guest speaker Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Dr Anushka Chaudhry, about the importance of Breast Care Awareness.

In the South Asian community, there is still a stigma attached to talking about breast care and getting a mammogram. This results in people not having regular check-ups, being diagnosed at later stages and therefore having worse outcomes.

According to Cancer Research UK, there are around 55,900 new breast cancer cases in the UK every year, that's more than 150 every day. And a big part of getting the best treatment is to catch it early.

Changing Suits and Dr Chaudhry discuss the importance of early diagnosis and talk about breast care in the South Asian community.

"It’s best to be breast aware and break the stigma attached to talking about breast awareness," Taj said.

The podcast called ‘Breast Awareness’ will be released on Friday, June 24 on Apple and Spotify.
